Suncadia Resort > Rope Tow Tubing Hill

Big disappointment. There are 30 inner tubes available for each session. Two of our children with 3 of the grandkids arrived at the hill at 10:55am on New Year’s Day to purchase tickets for the 11am-1pm session. They were pleased to see that they were about sixth in line, thinking that they would have no problem getting on the hill, as they had to return to Seattle that afternoon.
When the couple ahead of them with two children reached the booth- they found the hill was sold out for the session.
There were dozens of families with children ready to tube, in line, who were turned away also.

One man had purchased 10 tickets and was standing to the side guarding 10 inner tubes, waiting for his party to show up. Several others had rented at least four tubes each and were also waiting for their later arrivals. One family that was successful had four tubes for the two adults and two very small children.

Last year there was a family charge, which covered 2 tubes per family. In this manner at least 15 families could be accommodated per session, instead of a few with advance group purchase reservations.

Maybe the rope hill is just another public amenity that is not under either owner or developer control.

Well, I was there the day before and saw the same, but from the other side. I got my kids there 30 minutes early, got 3 tube and listened to people like you kvetch that we had three tubes and you got none. Well, show up early and don't blame the people who got there early. I did not know they had so few. But I listened to people complain they got none and told their kids "Look at that family- they have 7 tubes! Like they need 7!". Suck it up. I actually heard some jackass parents offering people money for their tubes... 'cause their money is so needed by the people that stay at the resort. LOL.

How do you expect to get a tube 5 minutes before the session started. Why dont you wake up a little earlier and make sure your family has the experience they deserve.

"One man had purchased 10 tickets and was standing to the side guarding 10 inner tubes, waiting for his party to show up. "

This is not fair and equable, nor is a mentality of who shows up first gets all the the tubes. In that case, be first in line when the employees show up to get more than your fair share. Oh, that's right, greed is a good thing in your family life.

We arrived five minutes before the tickets went on sale- thirty-five minutes before the session. There were only 5 people in front of us, but a lot of people behind! We left right away and the kids had a ball on sleds on the fairways. It just seemed that it was a very poor way of sharing a special experience.

We arrived five minutes before the tickets went on sale for the session, a full thirty five minutes before the session was to start. There were only five people ahead of us in line. Of course we left when we found no tickets available, we left. Our grandkids did a have a ball sledding on the fairways with our own sleds. It just seemed a poor way of sharing a snow experience for children who did not have access to sleds.

As the man who rented the 10 tubes...I showed up 45 minutes early(and it was cold) to ensure I could have a tube for each of the 10 children that were going to tube...the 3 dads with me shared with the kids but I did not buy 14. I happened to have three other families spending the holidays with us...should we be penalized because we were a large group. Someone had the nerve to ask me if I was sure I wanted to have a tube for each kid...I responded yes...I agree that with only 27 tubes, a capacity issue quickly appears...but don't complain about someone renting a tube for there child to enjoy...now if I were selling the excess tubes on ebay for 6X the cost...I would support your anger

I don't think you should be penalized for having a large group, your large group has already penalized everyone else.

I still don't get it...I had 10 kids who wanted tube...they all arrived at least 10 min prior to the session opening...they used the tubes

With limited capacity...some people don't get to go...the fact I had 10 of the 27 tubes because I had 10 kids doesn't make me any different than any of the other 17 kids on the other tubes...the people who unfortunately missed out...missed out because 27 kids were using the tubes

As the saying goes...never argue with an idiot...first they bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience...

I sincerely hope you guys get to go next time...in fact...several of the families complaining did get to tube and I provided my tubes to some of them when we left...

If we're standing in line for 45 minutes to be there in time to make sure a tube is available, can't we drive to the Summit, tube for an hour and be back before the session that is full ends?

I know this isn't as convenient but if it's about the kid's experience, plan an alternative by packing a few tubes from home.

In a nutshell, this thread exhibits everything that is wrong at Suncadia....

only suncadia could screw up some thing as simple as sledding down a hill. You wonder why they are sliding to new owners

oh my, what a bunch of cry babies! if you were the party with the 10 tubes...would you still be complaining on this blog post? NO! you all know what it's like with children...if you have one, easy peasy but 2, 3, 4...10...they don't like to share! especially if you have a "session". how long does it take to slide down the hill and then walk back up with the tube for the next person to slide? (i am not sure because i haven't been to this place before) all that walking up time subtracts from the "session" and with a larger party...not everyone will get the great fun they had hope for unless they have enough tubes to accommodate their party! if you want a tube? go earlier...you say you arrived 5 minutes before ticket sales? next time go even earlier! just think of your attitude if you were in the other persons' shoes. i bet if you were the ones that got the last tubes and the guy with the party of 14 was standing behind you, he would wait for the next session to make the children in his party have a memorable experience. you sound like the parent who wouldn't...well, wait you obviously didn't! that's why you're hear *itching! ;p have a wonderful day all! =)
